The Animal Health Business Division is seeking an experienced Veterinarian specializing in swine medicine to join our Swine Technical Services Team. This field position will provide technical support for our sales and marketing efforts in North Carolina. Supporting a team of sales representatives, selected candidate will provide training, perform field investigations, design and implement demonstration trials, and interact directly with key influences in the pork industry. Qualified candidate will possess experience in a swine production company or swine practice; an advanced degree and/or training is desirable. The successful candidate will exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfort with public speaking, and proficiency in computer use and technical writing. Candidates must have a recognized veterinary degree and an advanced degree (MS, PhD, or other). Candidates must have demonstrated research activity with a clear emphasis in an area of swine research. Desirable attributes include experience in collegiate teaching, experience in clinical swine medicine and modern swine production, and effective communication skills and an ability to interact with students, veterinarians, and pork producers. The faculty member will be expected to develop an independent swine research program, develop and contribute to undergraduate, professional, and postgraduate education programs, and to participate in continuing education programs in swine health and production. Veterinary services to pork producers in support of the instructional program will also be a responsibility of the faculty member. The faculty member will be expected to develop innovative methods for the delivery of veterinary services to the pork industry and swine veterinarians of North Carolina. Salary and rank will commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is available from July 1, 1999.
