Tiger Woods’ best round of golf is a 63, but the AASV championship
team blew through 18 holes in 62 (9 under par) during the AASV Foundation
golf outing held August 22 at the Ames (Iowa) Golf and Country Club.
Members of the champion team were Tom Wetzell, Dave Iverson, Dave Bomgaars,
and Clayton Tolbert. Wetzell’s team, hosted by Intervet, bested
the AVMA-PLIT team of Rod Johnson, Scott Ammer, Angelo Frieri, and Mike
McMahon in a tiebreaker.
“The AASV golf outing is a great event,” said Tom Wetzell.
“I appreciate the sponsors and organizers who make it possible to hold
the outing each year and encourage more people to play. Win or lose – it’s
a lot of fun.”
While the champion team obviously was having a good day on the course,
members of the last-place team (Wes Johnson, John Kolb, Tom Burkgren,
and Joey Kimpston-Burkgren) also enjoyed their day on the course.
Individual prizes were awarded to the following golfers:
Dan Fedders: Longest drive (Holes 6 and 13)
Barry Kerkaert and Jeff Kaisand: Closest to the pin (Holes 3
and 12)
Steve Bauer: Longest putt
The outing would not have been possible without the financial support
of the official sponsors: Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Elanco, IVESCO,
Pfizer, and Schering-Plough! Thank you all for your sponsorship in this
event and throughout the year!
