A hole-in-one!
Over $6000 was raised for the AASV Foundation during the 2005 AASV
Midwest Golf Outing. Remarking about the August
24th event, Dr Rodney Johnson, foundation president, said, "The
money raised goes to the foundation and then back to students and AASV
members through the foundation's activities. It's
a win-win - a hole-in-one!" Under weather conditions befitting a fall day in October, 45 golfers arrived at
the Carroll Country Club with the best of hope for a good round. Although
some golfers may not have played their best rounds, all enjoyed the best facilities
and best opportunity to relax with colleagues, friends, and clients.
"Our team from Chicago thought the trip was well
worth the effort. It was great to see so many old friends," said
Dr Johnson. He continued, "Daryl Olsen did a great job organizing
the event, and the sponsors are to be commended on their support."
Special thanks to sponsors Elanco Animal Health, Intervet, Iowa Veterinary Supply
Co, Novartis Animal Health US, and Schering-Plough Animal Health. Sponsorship
provided the golf refreshments, lunch, closing reception, and prizes!
No golf outing is complete without the traditional 19th hole get-together,
where golfers regroup and commiserate about the round. The AASV golf
outing was no different. During the reception, Dr Daryl Olsen announced
the winners of the best-ball contest on the par 71 course, as follows:
First flight
- First place (with a score of 60): Dave Iverson, Tom Wetzell, Roger
Green, and Dave Bomgaaars
- Second place (with a score of 64): Tim Stuart, Rube Robeoltman, Curt
Teggatz, and Mike Bauer
Second flight
- First place (with a score of 68): Brian Roggow, Paul Ruen, Duane

- Second place (with a score of 70): Mike Kuhn, Ron White, Jeff Kaisand,
and Gene Spellman

paid off, as Wetzell took the prize for the longest putt on the 18th
hole. Below, for many others, putting was a matter of "so close, yet so far." (Photos
