PRRS Corner: PRRS Update from UMN SDEC
January 15, 2014 — Dr. Steven Tousignant
The University of Minnesota’s Swine Disease Eradication Center offers the following updates from the National PRRS Incidence Project:
- We continue to signal epidemic levels of PRRSv in our cohort. Graphs depicting data collected prior to 12/20/2013 can be viewed here.
- Several participants report it has been difficult to identify PRRSv in those herds concurrently infected with PEDv
- In light of the epidemic, some systems continue to report success in excluding new virus, and several herds have recently completed successful closure programs and are now considered stable.
- New infections have been reported in filtered herds
