Application checklist:

  • Read the letter (PDF version here, and also shown below)
  • Download and fill out the application PDF; save the completed form as "NPIF-your_name" on your computer.
    • Use Adobe Reader version 8 or later. The "preview" application in Mac OS X is known not to work (it makes the text you enter invisible!)
    • Do not modify the form or save it in a different format (such as for a word processor). We need the form to be in the original PDF structure for data collection.
  • Update or create your 1-2 page resume; save it in .doc, .rtf, or .pdf format as "Resume-your_name" (plus the appropriate extension) on your computer.
  • Attach these two items (Application and Resume) to an email to aasv@aasv.org and send no later than October 30, 2009.
  • Do not send (or have your references send) letters of recommendation. Your references will be contacted as deemed necessary by the review committee.

You will need a recent version of Adobe Reader to fill out the application form. Please contact the AASV if this is not an option.

$3,300 Veterinary Internship Stipend

Attention ALL Current 1st and 2nd Year Veterinary Students
No Experience Required

The National Pork Industry Foundation (NPIF) has provided funding for six veterinary students to gain experience in the swine industry through a summer internship with a swine practitioner.  The NPIF stipends are intended for any 1st or 2nd year veterinary student, regardless of any previous swine experiences.  Students with little to no experience are highly encouraged to apply. The swine industry is rapidly changing and evolving and there is a demand for veterinarians dedicated to this industry.  The role of the veterinarian is vitally important in producing a safe, wholesome pork product in an efficient and responsible manner.  If you have any interest in exploring the field of swine veterinary medicine, this is the perfect opportunity – you will gain valuable experience and get paid well for it.
