PRRS Corner: AASV PRRS Task Force Meets at Annual Meeting
April 24, 2013 —
The AASV PRRS Task Force met during the AASV Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA. The meeting, chaired by Dr. Bob Morrison in the absence of Dr. Montse Torremorell, discussed a number of issues associated with PRRS research, control and elimination. The Task Force discussed how vets reach the decision of whether a virus that is detected in a sow farm is resident or “new / different” to the farm. The Task Force elected to appoint a working group to compile some recommendations describing a process veterinarians might use to determine the status of a PRRS virus in a herd.
