Position Announcement: Diagnostic Pathologist

Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine invites nominations and applications for full time clinical-track faculty or full time tenure-track position in diagnostic pathology within the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.

Applications for clinical-track will be accepted at the levels of clinician or senior clinician. Applications for tenure-track positions will be accepted at the levels of assistant, associate, or full professor.

The Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (ISU VDL) is an AAVLD-accredited, full-service laboratory that serves veterinarians and animal owners of the state of Iowa and across the United States. The caseload is diverse with food animal species representing the majority of submissions.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to provide diagnostic pathology support and deliver comprehensive diagnostic case information in a concise and well-organized manner on a year-round (12 month) basis to practicing veterinarians and other animal health professionals. The ability to interact, communicate and collaborate with progressive practicing veterinarians and other stakeholders in animal agriculture is essential. The person in this position will be expected to engage in discovery by continuing the ISU VDL's long history of applied research that directly benefits the food animal industry. The successful applicant will also be expected to aid in the development and implementation of new diagnostic procedures and assist in maintaining quality assurance programs. The position also involves laboratory instruction of veterinary students, guidance and training of graduate students and residents, and the creative use of case material for teaching and/or research.
